The Dove Awards Says Goodbye to Nashville

Casting CrownsSince the first Dove Awards were handed out in 1969, the annual ceremony has been held in Nashville, Tennessee. At this year’s awards, held at the Grand Ole Opry House, there was no hint that change was coming. However, the Gospel Music Association has announced that the Dove Awards will move to Atlanta, Georgia, home of the Gospel Music Channel, for 2011. The 2011 Dove Awards will be held in Atlanta’s historic and fabulous Fox Theatre on April 20, 2011. The GMA is working with the city of Atlanta to make sure that Dove Award activities will take place in close proximity to the Fox Theatre, to create an intimate atmosphere for attendees, artists and industry VIPs.
