One thing that this world needs more of is leadership. The bible states in Titus 1:8 “Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.” Too many pastors in churches these days are trying to be preachers, and not enough of them are trying to be leaders. How many times have you heard stories of pastors of churches confessing to adultery or stealing money from the church or surfing porn on the computer. It is outrageous. Now I am not saying that they should be perfect. In fact, the leaders of our churches are the front line of defense against Satan so they will be in the direct line of fire more often than the congregation will be. Because of that, they need our prayer more than you know. What I am saying is that pastors, preachers, and leaders of the church need to stop taking the focus off of themselves and put it where it belongs – on Jesus. Everything we do, everything we speak, every way we live should be for Jesus and as He would do things. The cliché statement of WWJD is often mocked and manipulated, but the truth of the matter is we need to look in the bible and see how it says we need to live. Make a stand with me and proclaim to live each day as Titus 1:8 states.

I took a peak at Billboard.com’s charts today hoping to see Lecrae among the top albums this past week. No surprise that Rehab is number one for Gospel albums and Independent Albums. Rehab also ranks number 5 for rap albums, number six for digital albums, and number seventeen on Billboards top 200. Although some of the best gospel singers have ranked well in the past, it is rare for a hip hop artist to get these kinds of ranks. It goes to show just how much talent Lecrae has and how much God has blessed him with these amazing skills. Through all of the spotlights the world puts on him, we must keep him in our prayers. Fame can diminish what God’s plan is for his life and we need to make sure that God helps him through all temptations he may have and influences the decisions he makes.

After flying from Amsterdam to Entebbe, Uganda, the team and I were tired, so we planned to spend the night in Entebbe and rest up. After dinner, prayer, and great convo, Dawn (one of the ladies on our team) heard a familiar tune coming from the front room of our living quarters. We gathered around a small television, and watched as a local Ugandan Hip-hop music video show ended featuring a new video from none other than our brother Trip Lee! It was like God was confirming He was with us. I mean, what are the chances that at that moment the very people who would most appreciate seeing Trip’s “Invasion” video were there to see it? God was and is with us.

We woke up and hopped on a plane to Sudan the next day. After an hour in the sky, we came in for a landing on a small dirt road in Yei, Sudan. We are working alongside a Sudanese church and a ministry called His Voice, which has opened multiple orphanages. Upon landing, I had no feelings of anxiety just a desire for God to work.

Once our plane door opened we were moved to tears as some 20 or more children sang to us. “Welcome, welcome to Sudan…welcome brothers…welcome sisters…welcome to Sudan,” their pleasant voices sang. All of these beautiful voices were orphaned, but the provision of God was evident in their smiles. The lead pastor of the Sudanese Church, “Bishop,” allowed the children to look inside our plane, since they had never seen the inside of one before. The widows who are employed to care for the children kept order for the excited faces that were giddy at their first encounter with the interior of an airplane. I was overjoyed.

As we rode into the village, villagers who had been anticipating our arrival greeted us on both sides of the road. Once we pulled up to the compound the church owns, we were greeted again by an array of drums, beautiful singing, and wooden string instruments. It was an overwhelming sight. I was torn between capturing it on film and just taking in the moment. After worship songs and prayer, I was again reminded of what I am always keenly aware of beyond American soil–God’s presence is everywhere. Dinner, free time to gaze into a green peaceful backdrop provided by God, testimony of the Spirit’s work in villagers and a public repentance and acceptance of Christ…my day and my heart is full. Welcome, welcome to Sudan.

Prayers: Open the eyes of my Heart to see God’s immeasurable power. Ephesians 1:18-21

You are obsessed with your favorite tracks and have already begun to memorize the lyrics. The words are inspiring, true, and filled with the power of God. Don’t stop there! Take these words to every corner of the earth and spread the good news of Jesus to everyone! Turn up your bumps when you pull up to a stop light and roll down the windows. You may surprise some people when they hear you listening to rap that mentioned the word of God and not drugs and sex. Offer to give an unsaved friend a ride and put in Lecrae’s Rehab album and see if they notice what is playing. You could even borrow a friend your ipod to listen to some of your playlists. But if you really want to see a strong move of God in this country, and even this world…. Call up every secular “top hits” radio station in your city and request them to play Lecrae! Don’t stop at one call, call them several times a day, every day and lets start hearing some good music played on the air waves!

To try to keep track of how many people we can get to do this, we suggest you tweet this post each time you call up your local station to request to hear Lecrea Rehab tracks. Lets see this move sore!

Still sky high off the ascension of Rebel, his 2008 album, to the top of the Billboard Christian Albums chart, a first for any rapper, Lecrae, the world’s best selling faith-based hip-hop artist, refuses to let up. Encouraged even more by the unprecedented 75-plus weeks Rebel spent on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart, Lecrae has returned with Rehab, his fourth album. Scheduled for a fall release, with Rehab, Lecrae is even more focused than ever on spreading the gospel to even wider audiences.

Unlike so many hip-hop artists who have preceded him in both the Christian/Gospel and mainstream realms, Lecrae offers complex lyrics that give voice and provide thoughtful discourse about today’s challenges. Using his considerable skill for a higher purpose, Lecrae stretches beyond hip-hop’s limitations on both sides of the industry to reach a larger audience hungry for salvation. To that end, Lecrae employs energetic beats and inspired lyricism to meet listeners, saved and unsaved, where they are, addressing their skepticism while also advancing God’s love as the ultimate solution to their woes. As with his previous albums, Lecrae uses Rehab to push beyond stereotypes to capture a generation of believers who would otherwise be lost.

Featuring top-notch production that easily rivals most mainstream hip-hop offerings, Lecrae continues to use his skills for God, expanding his consistent and genuine message of love and redemption with Rehab. Executed with deep thought and reflection, with Rehab, Lecrae further demonstrates his ability to dissect the larger issues of the contemporary world while also reconciling living a righteous life in an often unrighteous world.

“I named it Rehab,” he says of the album’s title, “because I feel as if everyone is looking to find a sense of purpose and worth and value,” explains Lecrae. “We’re all kind of messed up. We all have issues and we all have addictions in one form or the other and I just look to point people to the answers through rehabilitation.”

Staying true to his mission of “giving people authentic, good music that really helps them out,” Lecrae avoids the self-righteous indignation that has prevented some Christians from spreading the gospel. Capturing people at their own crossroads, Lecrae favors “reality” raps that emphasize his own struggles and those of others in hopes of reaching those who are like he once was and “Used to Do It” featuring KB is one of his many vehicles.

Boasting a very musical track slightly reminiscent of the infectious rhythms of the timeless “Little Drummer Boy” that literally defies one to remain still, “Used to Do It” makes clear that both rappers have been where many of their listeners are. “I used to do it too” repeats incessantly throughout the song as the lyrics subtly reveal how finding Jesus transformed each rapper’s life. Alternating lyrics like “now I’m something different” and “saved from my own sins” with “I’m changed” that make up parts of the hook don’t thrive off of preaching, but, rather, peer-to-peer reaching.

By delving deep into the bowels of temptation, “Killa” hits harder. “I know it’s gone kill me/But I just can’t let it go/And it tastes so appealing/It’s got a grip upon my soul” begin the lyrics after several “killa” chants over a sinewy, contemporary track. The brooding production augments the high drama as other lyrics like “sipping on seduction while we eating on some secret sin” and “evil look so lovely covered in her lace of lies” further emphasize how formidable the obstacles along the road to righteousness truly are.

On “Children of the Light,” a collaboration with Christian metal group P.O.D. singer Sonny Sandoval that’s one of Lecrae’s favorite songs on Rehab, a strong guitar riff helps to kick off the track just before the heavy drums thunder in. “We are children of the light/Royal rulers of the day/Saints over the streets of the night/Because only love can lead the way.” Very musically diverse, with an infectious feel that’s a guaranteed chart-topper, “Children of the Light,” which even incorporates reggae, promises a broad appeal that’s sure to be an anthem for Christians of all musical persuasions.

Poised to surpass Rebel, Rehab continues to mesh stellar and artistically inspired production with a purposeful message intended to captivate and steer today’s mislead generation towards salvation. Free of the extremely negative messages that permeate much of contemporary hip-hop but infused with the energy that makes the music so alluring, Lecrae is sure to extend his reign as the world’s leading faith-based hip-hop artist with Rehab.

Born in Texas and raised largely there, with stints in several cities, including San Diego, by a single mother, the Atlanta-based Lecrae, emerged on the music scene in 2005 with Real Talk on Reach Records, the label he co-founded. Well-received, the album peaked at #29 on the Billboard Gospel Albums Chart. His 2006 follow-up After the Music Stops reached #5 on the same chart, even landing at #7 on the Billboard Christian Albums Chart and #16 on the Billboard Heatseeker Albums Chart. Rebel, his third and most successful album to date released in 2008, topped the Billboard Christian Albums Chart for two weeks, becoming the first rap album to do so. In addition, Rebel spent more than 75 weeks on the Billboard Gospel Albums Chart. A critical and commercial hit, Lecrae has received three GMA Dove Award nominations, the industry’s highest honor and even won a Gospel Music Channel award for Best Hip-Hop Video.

The anticipation of Lecrae’s Rehab album is making even our hearts beat faster as the official tracklist is revealed. Being one of the best Christian Rap artists of our time Lecrae embarks upon another one of God’s journey’s for his life and puts into or minds what this next album will be about. Lecrae’s Rehab album sheds light on the spiritual battles we tend to overlook internally where the root of the problem may exist. He has many life experiences giving him the ability to see and prevent these issues, allowing him to use his words to show us what they are and how to deal with them, through Jesus Christ.
His prayer for this album is that people will not just gain practical insight for their lives, but they would find real sympathy from myself and mostly in the High Priest who sympathizes with us–Jesus. He is more than our healer. He IS our healing. He doesn’t just offer us peace. He IS our peace. And He IS our rehabilitation. Its gunna be HOT!! Pre-Order yours from Amazon NOW

When I recorded my first album, “Real Talk,” I was just throwing my voice out into the wilderness hoping someone, somewhere, heard basic biblical theology wrapped in common language. I wanted to see people commit their lives to Jesus Christ.

I ended up on a whirlwind of travels across the nation as a missionary to urban culture and anyone influenced by Hip-Hop. I was hurt by some of what I saw. Many were excited about hearing Christ proclaimed in music, but when it was over, there were few solid biblical communities to become a part of to encourage fellowship, prayer, disciple-making, and biblical literacy. So I recorded “After The Music Stops,” a battle cry for believers to devote themselves to an unashamed gospel-centered life.

My platform grew and so did I as a Christian. I was dedicated to serve the body of Christ and see people come to know the Lord. I knew from my daily interactions with people from all walks of life that the way people saw the world needed to be changed, as well as the way people viewed God and themselves. I felt the weight of people saying to conform to living the way most of the world did. This view was unbiblical and only hindered people from truly experiencing the grace and goodness of God, so I challenged them to REBEL.

Now I’m a little older and a little wiser. I can see the mistakes people will make before they make them. I can see not only the fruit of their mistakes, but also the root of their mistakes. Many times we want to attack the behaviors or the external problems in our lives and never realize the cause of those problems are internal and spiritual. Anger, depression, addiction, discontentment are all ills that plague us. Many times, we not only try to fix the effects of these things instead of tackling the cause, but we also don’t think God and His Word have any hope or solutions for them.

Out of a burden to help and also confess my own struggles in this area, I am releasing “REHAB” on September 28, 2010.

The work has been a process, and the title almost didn’t make it once I heard another artist was releasing an album called “Recovery,” but it made too much sense to not move forward with it. My prayer is that people will not just gain practical insight for their lives, but they would find real sympathy from myself and mostly in the High Priest who sympathizes with us–Jesus. He is more than our healer. He IS our healing. He doesn’t just offer us peace. He IS our peace. And He IS our rehabilitation. So find rest for your weary soul and Joy in the midst of life’s ups and downs, with my offering of music. God bless and I hope you like it, but mostly, I hope it points people to JESUS

Despite the fact that the gospel hip hop culture is gaining ground and taking shape here in Uganda, it is facing a lot of criticisms from the Christian communities. Most of the traditional churches and even some contemporary ones are still glued to the traditional ways of doing music. We can not put the entire blame on the Christian community today because most of the people grow up with the indoctrination that gospel music is done in a particular format; outside that, it is deemed secular. Hip hop is branded as music for drug addicts, sex maniacs and killers.
Personally, I grew up knowing that gospel music is always slow paced, boring and with a vague beat. This partly scared me away from getting into terms with facts about salvation. I did not want to get born into such a boring music world. I never ever knew of any gospel hip hop song! Perhaps I heard some being played but branded them secular because of the wrong perception that I had. I attribute that to lack of popularity of this genre of music. Actually, the availability of hip hop music material is limited (for both local and international artists). Some of us who are desperate for it get it from the internet (few Ugandans know about this and most of them have limited access to internet). It is also unfortunate that foreign gospel hip hop artists rarely come to Uganda. We don’t have any Christian clubs here in Uganda. The only attempt we have made is to try to schedule gospel nights in a secular club. Unfortunately, that programme died out.
Today, some of us have embraced hip hop because we have gotten access and understood it. I am glad to say that our local church has embraced it too. We sing, dance and listen to it in church. The challenge we face is that we have to burry our passion for the genre when with people who are biased about it. For example, when doing a show in a church which shuns hip hop, we have to omit hip hop performances- what a challenge!
I have had a few encounters with those who oppose this genre of music; here-under is how I have defended my love for hip hop;
I usually stress the fact that the devil can not create anything; he simply manipulates what God creates. He has therefore manipulated hip hop. We need to take it back by force.
The other issue is that we need to understand culture. Imagine a person from England watching a traditional African performance in church. The performers are dressed with feathers on their heads, paintings and marks all over their bodies. To us, it may be absolutely ok, but to that English person, it may look like witchcraft being performed on stage. Why then should we have issues with chains, big T-shirts, buggy jeans, heavy beats and so on that hip /hop funs put on?
In a nutshell, the culture is making positive progress and yet struggling. We still hope and pray that Christians here buy it because it is such a big influence in the secular world.

I was born in March 6, 1993 Born out of the US, raised in the US Massachusetts/Rhode Island, before I became a Christian I was a person willing & wanting to chill with dangerous people, willing & wanting to be with the wrongful & evil people in the state. It happen, but wasn’t the life I exactly wanted back then it was like I wanted that life but I know I can make more of myself & I thank GOD for that cause it happened, I’m a person who wants to have eternal love, & love everyone in the whole entire planet earth, but temptations from the devil keeps on taking the love away from me, I’m a person who is willing & wanting to do anything to become a reverent/son of GOD, I’m wanting to be deferential, I want to have a Christ like character, my life has a lot of temptations and I’m willing & wanting to fight sin! I’m a person who has a lot of flaws & is willing and wanting to give my life, heart, soul, & spirit to GOD. When I’m having a good day the devil tempts me and takes away that good day away from me, I hate evil, I hate lawlessness, I hate wrongfulness, I love Holy, I love love, I love righteousness, I want GOD in my life, WILLING & WANTING TO DO ANYTHING TO BE WITH GOD OF MY SALVATION! I never want to lose my salvation, I want GOD, I need GOD, I love GOD for a whole lot of things. I’m different now but still need a lot of growing up to do as a servant, I accept Christ in my life and sometimes is like I’m so wrongful, I shouldn’t deserve to live, but GOD showed me the way, willing & wanting to change my life for GOD, wanting & willing to give EVERYTHING to GOD!

Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.” Are you afraid of what people may think about you. Proverbs 1:22 says “How long, foolish ones, will you love ignorance? [How long] will [you] mockers enjoy mocking and [you] fools hate knowledge?” Also but listen closely Proverbs 1:24-28 says “Since I called out and you refused, extended my hand and no one paid attention, since you neglected all my counsel and did not accept my correction, I, in turn, will laugh at your calamity. I will mock when terror strikes you, when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when trouble and stress overcome you. Then they will call me, but I wont answer; they will search for me, but won’t find me.” Listen if you had made mistakes and you are will & wanting to change don’t give up, have trust & faith. 1 Timothy 2:3-4 says “This is good, it pleases GOD our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” 1 Timothy 4:6 says “If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished by the words of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. But having nothing to do with irreverent and silly myths. Rather, train yourself in godliness, for the training of the body has a limited benefit, but godliness is beneficial in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”
